On the last Thursday in January, the ConnecTV team worked together to get our first studio shoot in the can.  We were in the studio for 20 hours straight! We are currently editing the footage, adding the graphics, docs and video conferencing to complete the ConnecTV pilot show!

Make sure to go to the map and vote to let your PBS affiliate know that you want to see this exciting show on the national airwaves!!! Look out for later this month when the pilot will be online.

DCTV Festivals, Awards and New Acceptances

"Off to War" won the 1st Place in Big Muddy Film Festival at Southern
Illinois University.  This is their fourth awards earned in festival
circuit.

ConnecTV:
"One Night Sit" and "On Her Own Terms" in Iowa City International
Documentary Festival from April 14 to 16.

"Ready or Not" in Sprout Film Festival from May 7 to 8 at the NYU Cantor
Film Center

Pro-TV:
"The Cries of A Teenage Soul" in Nashville Film Festival(Nashville, TN) from
April 14 to 21. This festival is the longest-running film festival in the
South with an international reputation.  Over 150 films will be shown.

"The Cries of A Teenage Soul" in Television Documentary Festival at the
Museum of Television & Radio in New York.  The screening is on Wednesday,
April 20, at 4:30pm.

"GED: Get and Education Diploma" and "Money Problems!" in Urban Visionaries
Film Festival from March 24 to 25 at the Museum of Television & Radio in New
York.

Starting in October 2004, ConnecTV launched an international VIDEO CONFERENCING project to connect our Segment Producers here in New York City with other groups of people with disabilities from around the country and the world. We are laying the foundation for a worldwide disability network, and you can join! We hope this website will function as an ongoing, grassroots forum for discussing issues vital to everyone in the disability community. Find out more...

April:
Two teams of ConnecTV-ers went out to the annual Abilities Expo in Edison, New Jersey to check out the latest that Assistive Technology has to offer.

May:
ConnecTV sent the advanced production crew to Birmingham, Alabama to document the building of this year's ABILITY house, Habitat for Humanity and ABILITY Magazine's collaboration to build 100% accessible homes incorporating the latest in assistive technology. The hotel turned out to be a whore house but that didn't stop them! Diana, Patricia, Carmelo, Nelson and Asher report on the trip in a photo essay here!

Three teams went up to Albany for the New York State Governor's Expo on Assistive Technology and scraped up a brand new accessible van! Everyone returned safe and sound after a job well done. Take a look at our production stills here.

June:
ConnecTV sent two crews to Washington, D.C. to do a piece on the annual
VSA International Arts Festival, the largest disability arts festival in the U.S.

July:
ConnecTV students went to Setuaket, Long Island to support Rick Allen's Raven Drum Foundation.

August:
ConnecTV participated in Long Island University's annual wheelchair race for the non-disabled to raise awareness about the importance of accessibility.

October: ConnecTV participated in the Mayor's Office's Disability Mentoring Day by job-shadowing professionals at the CBS News Early Show.
