Therapeutic Riding Viewers learn about how horseback riding is being successfully used as therapy for people with disabilities and meet characters for whom therapeutic riding has made a big difference in their lives. Craig and Kenny, who both have Cerebral Palsy, discuss how TR helped them increase their mobility. Parents of children with disabilities reveal that TR even helps with non-physical disabilities such as learning disabilities and Down’s Syndrome.
Unfortunately, however, therapeutic riding can be quite costly, and when their insurance companies decide not to recognize TR as legitimate therapy anymore, neither Craig nor Kenny can afford to continue. Professionals from two programs in the New York City area discuss their services and how these insurance changes have directly affected their clients. |

This documentary follows three senior boys with different disabilities as they graduate and attempt to make plans for their future after high school. Since Dave has had seizures in the past, he isn’t very keen on leaving the house. He’d rather watch wrestling or play video games. His mom is determined to find a program or activity to get him out of the house, but his counselor never seems to show up. Todd really wants to be an actor, but the only opportunities he has involve clerical work. He’s determined, however, and keeps working at it… Kaligah wants to become a teacher and goes to Queens. Like many freshmen, he ends up spending more time with his friends than his books until his report card gives him a wake-up call. Kaligah has to swallow his pride and seek assistance with his schoolwork. |
